Let sports fuel growth, and let growth, in turn, enhance sports. The Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo (EIT) has fully integrated its Trinity physical education curriculum—comprising classroom teaching, one hour of daily exercise, and club activities—into student assessments, creating a holistic, multi-dimensional evaluation system for physical education. In the recently concluded annual Student Physical Fitness Test, the inaugural undergraduate cohort achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate and an impressive 31.08% excellence rate.

Scenes from the Physical Fitness Test
One Hour of Daily Exercise
At 17:40, undergraduate Haokai Ye wrapped up his fencing class, taught by former world champion Fei Han. He then met with fellow students Junhao Zhu and Yizhong Ge, along with a faculty advisor, to discuss the details of starting a Pickleball club. To stay in shape, they consistently log their daily runs and strength training sessions.
This outstanding first report card for EIT's pioneering undergraduates results from the Office of Academic Affairs' sustained implementation of a physical education system built on the principles of Health First, the goal of Lifelong Sports, the strength of Distinguished Faculty, and the distinctive classroom teaching + club activities + one hour of daily exercise approach.
Unlike traditional long-distance running check-ins, students can choose their preferred activities and access various sports venues to complete their daily exercise requirements. The first-year features foundational physical education courses, while the second and third years offer specialized electives. The presence of high-caliber specialized instructors, including former world champions, is another innovative aspect of EIT's approach.

During a recent Ningbo City Football League match, EIT's football field sparked conversations beyond the campus: What a beautiful campus! What an impressive field! players exclaimed, adding that playing there was a true pleasure. Beyond the standard football field, EIT boasts top-tier facilities—including a fencing hall, pickleball courts, a swimming pool, and tennis courts—allowing students to stay active anytime, anywhere. The undergraduate residence hall even have an on-site gym, creating an incredibly motivating sports environment.

Curiosity brings beginners through the door; experienced players help them grow. On the football field, students sharpen their skills alongside Academician Zhangxing Chen, Chair Professor, Dean of the Siming College, and Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. On campus, they complete half-marathons with Professor Chuanwu Xi, Chair Professor, Vice Provost for Global Engagement, and Dean of the School of the Environment and Sustainable Engineering. On the badminton court, they work up a sweat alongside Professor Qinghuo Liu, Chair Professor and Dean of the School of Electronic Science and Technology. Through events like the Inaugural Faculty-Student Friendly Football Match, the Tri-University Basketball Invitational, and the First Campus Fun Run, students create unforgettable EIT moments through these vibrant campus sports activities.
